L’Atlas began his career by engraving his name in the wood of his school desk, getting hundreds of pages to copy as a punishment, probably an unexpected occasion for him to develop his taste for calligraphy! His first experience with graffiti was in Paris (Place de la Nation) in 1991. He made many trips around the world, especially to the ancient and labyrinthine cities of the Middle East (Cairo, Istanbul, Damas, Aleppo), where he met several calligraphy masters who brought him a new vision of graffiti and convinced him to “work against the blindness of tradition and resist against mercantilism and modern urbanism.”
He now concentrates on drawing labyrinths, some in a large format that he sticks on advertising billboards, others that he paints directly on the ground, to help pedestrians find their way, “both in their journey and in their mind.” His work has been exhibited several times at the Galerie du jour agnès b. in Paris.
